The school has three-main departments; Preschool (Creche & Kindergarten), Primary & Junior High School.
The pride of our school is our highly trained facilitators and staff who undergo periodic professional development. For decades, our graduates achieve academic excellence and gain admission to the very best secondary schools in the country and beyond. Our motto is “Second to None”.
Our History
At a time in the building of the Tema township, the need arose for high quality education for the children of some executives on transfer to the city. They wanted a school with international standards. This desire led to the birth of Tema Parents’ Association School on the 15th of May, 1963 at the then temporary premises of Community 2. It was founded as a guarantee company (on a non-profit basis) and any parent who enrolled a child automatically became a member.
The concept was made a reality by 5 people namely:
Mr. Ben Okletey of Cargo Handling Limited, Mrs. Laura Plange, an Afro-American married to a Ghanaian, Mr. George Odamtten, an executive of Tema Development Corporation, Mrs. Young, wife of an expatriate executive of Railways and Harbours and Mr. Reid, an expatriate Railways engineer. These 5 personalities became the first Board of Directors of the school.
The school then commenced with thirty-nine(39) pupils and four(4) teachers namely Mrs. Nickels, Mrs. Hackman, Mrs. Gorbouls and Mrs. Annie Chinnebuah. The school had four classes; one special English class and three primary classes.
The first headmistress of the school was Mrs. TB. Quartey.
Tema Parents’ Association School is in its 62nd year of existence and has developed into a respected Preschool, Primary and Junior High School for children in and around Tema and beyond. A high academic and moral standard has been established and maintained over the years.
The school has churned out many notable alumni such as Mr. Chris Wulf Caesar (MD and CEO of Unilever Ghana), Mr. Samuel Asante-Asamani (CEO of Lagoon Clinic, TEMA), Ms. Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew (Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice and current University of Ghana Council Chair), Ms. Doreen Andoh (a celebrated and award-winning radio personality) and many more personalities.
